Affectionately known as “Jack” he was great supporter of a mutual team, Bangor City FC. When we moved from Farrar Rd to the purpose built Nantporth Stadium in 2011 we as a group of Supporters Stu Kewley, Cameron, and myself who all lived in Dwygyfylchi started travelling together to home and away games and were known as the “Dwygi Blues” . We’d meet-up with another group of fans namely Ianto, Huw, Ian ( who sadly died tragically a few months ago) and Alwyn before the home games where we would moider and have a few beers.
We’d go to Newtown, Aberystwyth, TNS, Connahs Quay, Rhyl. Prestatyn,Conwy , Ruthun, Denbigh LLandudno, Cefn Druids anywhere that “City”we’re playing and we’d go by car, train, or supporters Coach. Jack was well known as respected by all the Bangor fans and stayed supporting Bangor City up until his health deteriorated and he couldn’t attend matches and enjoy the atmosphere as he use to. He loved a pint of Guinness as did I and on one occasion we went on the supporter coach to Newtown and on arrival at around 1.30 we all went to the pub had a few pints of the Black stuff and then Fish and chips on the way to the ground, another couple of pints in the ground watched the game a pint in the club house after and then toilet and on to the bus. One lad had got a take out and we had a couple of cans off him. Getting off the bus at the shell garage in Dwygyfylchi I noticed Jack was a bit wobbly so I walked with him up the path at the back of the community hall and home. He never forgot that day out and never drank that much again but he said he really enjoyed it. He will be sadly missed by Bangor City supporters and the messages I’ve had off them only show how much they thought of him. One of the original Dwygi Blues” he will be greatly missed by all
