DenisLAWManchester United legend Denis Law CBE passed away at age 84.

Law spent 11 years playing for United, scoring 237 goals in 404 appearances, which put him third on the club's all-time goalscorers list, behind only Wayne Rooney and Sir Bobby Charlton. He formed a partnership known as "The Holy Trinity" at Old Trafford alongside Charlton and George Best, helping the club to win the European Cup, two English titles and the FA Cup.

Law played for United between 1962 and 1973. The club added they were "deeply saddened" to share the news of Law's passing.

In their obituary, United described him as the "darling of the Stretford End" and said he was "idolised by United fans of all ages". They also note that he is the only person with two statues at Old Trafford dedicated to him.

A brilliant striker who won the Ballon d'Or in 1964, Law also played for Huddersfield, Torino and Manchester City and scored 30 goals in 55 appearances for Scotland during his distinguished career, making him his country's joint-record scorer alongside Sir Kenny Dalglish.

Manchester City said the “whole of Manchester” was mourning. In a reply to United’s X post, they said: “The whole of Manchester, including everyone at City, is mourning with you. Rest in peace, Denis. Our thoughts are with Denis’ family and friends at this difficult time.”

Our thoughts are with Denis' family and friends at this sad time. We invite you to pay tribute to Denis Law below.

As a Stretford Ender I adored Denis, he was the King. I would always wait outside Old Trafford after matches just to say hello, he made me melt calling me Honey. I went hitch-hiking round Europe aged 18 in 1974. World Cup year. We managed to get a lift to Frankfurt, I just wanted to say hello to Denis. He shocked me by banging on the team coach window to me, shouting "What are you doing here?!" He was so kind, he did a collection for us. Because of the extra cash Denis gave me we moved on to Milan and got jobs, it wasn't much, we lived cheaply. I met my husband in Milan, I would not have the life I have now. I would not have my son and grandchildren if not for Denis. Denis Law changed my life. I have met him since at signings, he asked me how much is it I owe him, such a funny, charming gentleman. God Bless you Denis RIP
