Another year without you here means another year of telling all of your stories to anyone who will listen, missing your accent, and remembering how lucky we were to have you. We might not be able to speak to you directly, but I know you’re with me every single day.

Grandad,

You've been in my thoughts all weekend, you're so missed at family events, but your stories are definitely living on with us. We miss you terribly but are so happy for the time we had.

Somehow twelve years have passed since you left us. We still think of you every single day, always sharing your stories - the postman’s horse and the Christmas tree are still firm favourites, and I even found the football game you travelled to London for online!

I’ll be having a (strong) drink for you tonight, no doubt alongside Billy!

I’m so thankful for having such a brilliant grandad, I only wish we had a little more time.
