The obituary notice of Susan KELLY

Susan was a lovely warm colleague & friend. After every time I saw her, & we chatted, the world seemed just a little bit brighter. she is very poignantly missed by me, & I treasure my memories of our times together.

Dear Hospicare and Susan's family,

Thank you for bringing comfort and celebration to Susan, a kind and open spirit who touched the lives of so many. I am grateful to this fellow Californian academic transplant to the UK with Stev(ph)en(s) and golden retrievers in the family, who welcomed me to the UK and mentored me and so many. She is a greater gift than I could ever give here.

We were fortunate enough to meet Susan and Stephen when we moved to Exeter nearly 15 years ago. We spent many happy times together, often over a delicious home-cooked meal. Her savoury pecan aperitif was the stuff of legend - so good it should have been illegal!

Susan enjoyed a full and active social life. She could always be relied on to make an insightful contribution to our book club, her book choices were invariably excellent. She also enjoyed practising her spoken French, her grammar and accent were impeccable.

Susan was a thoughtful and supportive friend. She bore her illness with grace, dignity and courage, supported selflessly by Stephen as her condition worsened. We will miss her.
