John HaroldKEITHIt is with great sadness that we share the news that our beloved dad, John Keith passed away peacefully on Saturday 9th May 2026, aged 81 years.

He was our rock, our hero and a true gentleman whose kindness and love touched so many lives.

A wonderful dad to Sarah and Emma, cherished grandad to Maddie, Savannah, Tristan, Amelia and Maisie-Sue, much loved husband to our step mum Andrea de Laine who has become such an important part of our family, a loving husband to our wonderful mum the late Susan Keith, a beloved brother to Bobbie and Ralph, and a treasured uncle to Michael, Deborah, Spencer, Alistair and Adrienne.

Dad dedicated so much of his life to helping others and serving the community and was incredibly proud to have been a former Mayor of Derby. He will be remembered by many of his generosity, dedication and warm spirit.

We take comfort in knowing he is now at peace. Dad will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Funeral service will take place on Tuesday 23rd June, Sinfin Moor Church at 11.00am followed by a committal at Trent Valley Crematorium at 12.30pm.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu of flowers will support Down's Syndrome Derby which may be left at the service or online via John's tribute page www.wathalls.co.uk

I am saddened to learn of the passing of John Keith. I served with him on Derby City Council where he was a conscientious member always willing to go the extra mile for those he represented. His year as Mayor of Derby was a triumph because he excelled in meeting people; he was generous with his time, he was kind and had an irrepressible sense of fun. He enjoyed local politics but never let it take over his life - he had a refreshing down to earth approach and never lost sight of his unselfish desire to serve his community and his City. We sat on other organisations together and he was highly regarded by everyone he came into contact with and I feel privileged that I was able to spend as much time as I did with this gentle, caring, considerate and thoughtful man. We will not see his like again. My condolences to his family at this sad time but let us at the same time celebrate a remarkable life well lived. Rest in peace.
