I took a wee wander around my garden today, at the very end of winter, and took great joy in seeing buds and leaves coming through in my Dad's trees and plants. Anyone who knew him well knew that he loved a cutting from near and far, regardless of whether bringing them into the country was legal or not. His sense of humour led to a variety of ways of hiding them from customs officers, and the very thought of those antics even today bring a smile to my face.
That's when I feel closest to Dad - sharing his love for nature and remembering that cute hint of mischief in such a well-respected gentleman. I am truly blessed to be his girl.
So today, on his birthday, I'm sending all my love to my legendary Dad - I trust there's a brilliant party going on over there with Mum, Campbell, and all his family and friends.
Happy Heavenly Birthday, Dad, I'm still watering your flaxes, rosebush, lily pot, forsythia, hedging and potted oak tree ... all through winter. All my love, always - Slainte, Kirsteen xxxxx
