JIM BAMFORDTributes have been paid to a mechanic who died after being crushed by the vehicle on which he was working.Jim Bamford, 64, of Potter's Lock, Ilkeston, was at his family breaker's yard in Awsworth when the tragedy happened on 26 February, 2009.He was found by his brother Jess and was also survived by his sons David, Stephen and Derek.They said in a statement: "He was a genuine character and a great dad who would help anyone no matter what inconvenience or time of day."Jess said his brother, who planned to retire soon, had hoisted a lorry to work on when the accident happened.He said: "He was doing nothing different than what he did every day of his life. He thrived on the job, he just loved it."
