Dear Shirley I wanted it not to be true. I kept knocking on the door leaving notes hoping that you we're just unwell or out. I found out today. Both my mum and I are very shocked and upset. You we're such a kind brave soul. Always happy in all weathers. I miss seeing you walk pass the window. And the walking stick clanging on the pavement. It was always a comforting sound to me. You cheered me up when I had unpleasant experiences. Always just so kind to everyone. You we're well and you lost your husband but despite it all. You we're never bitter. Your kindness shined. I love that you loved being a lolly pop lady. I'm glad I got to know someone so kind like yourself. Think deep down I avoided asking anyone about you because I wanted to stay in denial.
