GladysHURSTof Dryden Street, Clayton-le-Moors passed away peacefully in the Royal Preston Hospital on Monday, March 27, aged 97 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry Roby Hurst - "Harry", sister of Anne, the late Tom and Jenny. Aunty of John, Richard, Katharine and the late Carolyn. Great aunty of John, Stuart, Thomas, Leah, Charlotte and Lucy. She was a friend to many, especially Irene, John and Iris. Gladys was a keen knitter and an excellent baker and was well known for her scones and her delicious parkin. Gladys and Harry travelled extensively, and especially enjoyed their cruising holidays. She was an avid member of St Mary's Church, Clayton-le-Moors and a keen supporter of Derian House Childrens Hospice. She will be sadly missed by family, friends and those who knew her. Special thanks go to the team at Broadfield Care Services for their help and support over the past few months. The funeral will take place on Friday, April 21 at 1.30pm at St Mary's Church, Clayton-le-Moors prior to interment at Dill Hall Cemetery. Family flowers only please but donations in lieu of Gladys to Derian House would be much appreciated. Funeral director: Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington, Lancs, tel: 01254 233133
