I only found out today that Len had passed on when I rang Classic Drums for the first time in two years. Phone answered by his wife. Lovely man who helped me to restore two kits that I play and treasure to this day. A proper gent, expert in his game and lots of love to his family. Ian Stubbs

So sad to come across this news online. I bought kits and parts from Len over the years. He also made me a couple of beautiful repro pieces to complete dream configurations- a wonderful 26” champagne sparkle bass drum and 14” floor Tom to match an exsisting Ludwig kit. I’ll always treasure these. He was a warm and patient man who always had a kind word and the time to advise a customer who was still learning. God bless you Len, you’ll be missed terribly in the vintage drum community. Dave T , Birmingham x

I've very belatedly just found out about the sad news of Len's passing earlier this year.
I first met Len at the inaugural vintage drum show in 2000 and then at many more after that. Len always had a kind word for me and my kids (who usually accompanied me), and was great fun to see every time. He was respected throughout our little UK vintage drum community, and was a font of knowledge. I remember contacting him to ask if he knew where I could get some very small drum parts for a kit I was building - next thing I knew, a small packet of them arrived in the post, without charge! If there is a heaven, Len won't be playing drums there, he'll be too busy restoring lovely Ludwig kits for all the other Old Drummers who've passed!

So sad to hear of his passing, my condolences to his family.

RIP Len the Ludwig

I only discovered the very sad news of Len's passing today 23rd May 2018 as I was searching for his site online hoping to resolve yet another query. I have purchased several kits, individual drums, accessories etc over the years from Len, and have ALWAYS found him to be the most helpful and patient guy, particularly when dealing with a punter like me, who occasionally required more that just a little help in sorting out their queries. Rest in peace Len, and make St Peter grove to the sound of one of your treasured vintage Ludwig kits !! Thank you once again for all your help in the past, you will be sadly missed. I'll drag out my treasured Ludwig Super Classic kit purchased from you just a couple of years back when I next gig next week, in honour of you buddy. Mike Price-Jones, north Wales.
