I knew William (Hewy as he liked to be called) as one of my very first patients in Newcastle Dental Hospital during my undergrad studies. I did a lot of work for him and during the 2 years I spent with him, he was always friendly, witty and smart. I remember he always came to appointments an hour early with a tesco bag in hand. He often spoke of his kids and grandkids with much love and affection. He was one of the nicest people I got to know in Newcastle and it was truly a pleasure treating him. He gave me a very thoughtful gift once, which I came across when I sorting my stuff out. I'm sad he's no longer with us and offer my sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. I hope I made an impact on him (and his oral health) as much as he impacted me. He'll be in my thoughts forever. I am grateful that he allowed me to train and grow as a dentist. He will be missed.
