Uncle Fred, you were one of a kind, the absolute salt of the earth. You would give the shirt off your back to those that needed it and always as sharp as a tack, even in your last days. I always looked forward to seeing you and in recent years bringing your brother Bill over to visit you when I came over from Australia. I was blessed to have caught up with you again in August and September 2025. Throughout my life you have always made me feel welcome. I will never forget the amazing sacrifices you and the family made in caring for your beloved wife Kath for many years. You were absolutely selfless and never complained. You will be dearly missed.

Our love and thoughts to Maxine, Michael, Megan, Daniel and Gemma at this difficult time.

All our love from across the seas - Marlene & Mark Haslam, Edmonton, Queensland, Australia....and on behalf of his brother William (Bill) Haslam who sadly can't attend the funeral.

Gramps, where do I begin. We all know no one lives forever, but with you it felt like it was possible.

I’m so honoured and proud to have got to have you as a Grandad. The man who put everyone first before himself. The man who selflessly took care of his wife for a decade when she needed him the most. The man who raised an incredible daughter (my Mum). The man who could never say no to his grandkids (Me and Daniel). The man who treated my dad like he was his very own. The man who didn’t like pets (until he befriended Duke and Dom Dom).

I hope Nanar gave you the biggest hug when she seen you, one from her and one from us all.

You’ve left such a lasting impact on all our lives and you’ll continue to be in all our hearts and stories, until we’re reunited again.

For now, I’ll miss you lots and continue to love you everyday.

Megan 🤍

Gramps, I don’t think any words could do you justice to how special you were, Not just to me but to everybody that’s ever known you. You have left a massive hole in my life and I don’t think it will ever be quite the same ever again. You were an amazing Husband, something I hope to live up to and emulate. Aswell as being an amazing Dad to Maxine (Mum) and special Gramps to me and Megan. You also treated my Dad and Michael like they were your own and I know they are both grateful for that. Michael will miss sharing a whiskey with you.

You and Nannar did such a wonderful job of looking after me throughout my childhood and I have so many amazing memories with you both, that I’ll cherish forever.

You were one in a billion, a truly special person and I don’t think there will ever be anybody like you ever again. You were an absolute legend!

I hope you are reunited with Nannar and the rest of the family that has passed over the years. (Maybe you’ll even find Duke wherever you are)

You will forever be in my thoughts for as long as I live. We miss you everyday. Hope to see you again one day. Love you Always, Dan & Gemma ❤️💔

Uncle Fred was unique. A truly caring and compassionate man for whom nothing was ever too much trouble. He had a remarkable generosity of spirit that set him apart. I was privileged and honoured to know him from the moment I was born. He took me to many of my first Forest games and, as I grew older, we enjoyed great nights out together at the local hostelries. Brilliant memories I will never forget. He wasn't just my uncle, he was one of my best friends and I'll miss him more than words can say.

RIP Fred and love to Auntie Kath.

Love also to Maxine, Michael, Megan, Daniel and Gemma at this incredibly sad time.

The phrase “salt of the earth” was coined for my Uncle Fred, I have never known or will ever know a more humble, friendly and caring person if I live to 100. He always appreciated everything and took nothing for granted. I will always remember our time at the City ground and how he loved the comments from the supporters, he would laugh for ages.

Give snuggles a cuddle from us

Rest in peace and say hi to all our past family💐
