LilianaGREENIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, nanna and great-grandmother LILIANA GREEN, aged 98, who passed away peacefully on Monday 29th June in Birmingham.
Mum will be remembered as an incredible spirit, who turned her own early adversities into towering strengths that gave her resilience and the ability to give love wholeheartedly.
Born and raised through hard times in Italy, she came to England after the war, and eventually settled in Burton where she met our beloved father Douglas to whom she was married for 65 years. Together they raised six sons and faced life's joys and sorrows with remarkable courage, including the sudden passings of our beloved brothers John and Robert, and later the sad passing of our beloved brother Maurice (Moz).
Mum will also be remembered for her wool shop in Stapenhill, her work at Pirelli and later as a post-lady. In retirement she had over three happy decades with Douglas and helped to raise and support her grandchildren. She will also be remembered as a terrific walker, with the Rambling Club, with friends on walks in Italy and leading Health Walks in and around Stapenhill. The garden she tended at the bungalow on The Dingle was much admired.
Mum. We will miss your unending love, strength, resilience, fierce sense of independence and the cheerfulness you demonstrated until your last day.
Our deepest gratitude to Sue and all the staff at Victoria Lodge care home in Acocks Green who cared for mum with such love and dignity in her later years.
We will celebrate Liliana's life at the Sutton Coldfield Crematorium on Tuesday the 21st of July at 11:30.
We request no flowers but donations may be made on the day to the Barnardo's children's charity.
