AliceGOULDINGof Lister Street, Accrington, peacefully passed away in hospital on Thursday, September 15, aged 95. She was the devoted wife of her late husband Jimmy whom she remembered every day of her life. Alice was a lovely auntie to Gary and his children Donna and Jon. She was well known around Accrington and will be greatly missed by her family and friends, particularly Ann and Kathleen. Alice was born in Altham and moved to Clayton-le-Moors before her wedding to Jimmy in 1957. She originally started work as a clerk in a warehouse, but became a housewife shortly after her marriage, although she enjoyed helping a friend who had a fabric shop in Accrington for many years. She had many interests which included walking in the countryside in her earlier years, and she loved meeting and talking to friends throughout her long life. She was a remarkable woman who defied her age and always possessed a very sharp mind. A celebration of life will be held at Accrington Crematorium at 1pm on Monday, October 3. Family flowers only with donations to British Heart Foundation c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
