DavidGODFREYWith his loving family by his side, Mr Dave Thomas Godfrey passed peacefully on Thursday, April 1, after a short illness, at Royal Blackburn Hospital. Dave was born on June 18, 1958 in Blackburn, the second born of four children. He attended St Wilfrids High School in Blackburn, where he met some of his lifelong friends and, of course, his future wife Carol Graham. Dave loved playing football and following his beloved Manchester United. He left school at 15 to become an apprentice bricklayer, which he continued for the rest of his working life, enjoying some memorable jobs around Europe. Dave married Carol on Valentine’s Day in 1981, always a romantic. They then went on to have two daughters, Natalie and Rachel, and four grandchildren Oliver, Gracie-Jayne, Thomas and Eadie. One very special granddad. He truly adored them all and spent his life making them laugh. Carol sadly passed away after a courageous battle against cancer in 2016. He was by her side for every single moment, truly inspirational. Dave had endless amounts of friends who all have a tale or two to tell. He was a lifelong member of the Rishton Working Men’s Club, where he had his last drink for the road. A truly charismatic and loved man, who will be sadly missed by all who knew him and never forgotten. RIP Grandad Rocket, Dad, Dave x A funeral service will be held at Pleasington Crematorium on Friday, April 16 at 10.45am, conducted by Angela Riding. Flowers are welcome. Funeral director: John Bolton for Rishton Funeral Services.
