I’m so sorry to hear that ‘Uncle Peter’ passed away in November - such fond childhood memories of this inbetween Christmas/New Year period at Norwich Rd. Libby and I under the piano with the Xmas chocolates while the ‘grown ups’ chatted .I also remember my first step into weekend work thanks to Uncle Peter at Fordhams in Buttermarket, Ipswich & the new computer games from Phillips !!!
Teenage memories of popping ‘next door but one’ for a cuppa and read of Fred The Basset in the papers.

I hardly believe you have gone, my godfather, my father's best mate, the man who gallantly chewed his way through my awful broad beans with a smile, walked me down the aisle 35 years ago, and who was a gentle constant in the background of my life.
Your quiet integrity and kindness touched so many lives.
You leave us grateful to have known you, and full of sorrow that you have left. Mustn't grumble you would say.

Peter was my Best Man when Anne and I married on Sept 3, 1966 he was also a fellow member of the Ipswich Junior Chamber of Commerce. Peter and wife Shirley were always friendly and hospitable and lovely people. Walter & Anne Smith
