MargaretFRITH1943 - 2026, of Brookhouse Pottery, Denbigh, died peacefully at her home surrounded by all her family on 24th January 2026.

Beloved wife of David, loving mother to Daniel and Gregor, cherished mother-in-law of Catherine and Jane, and proud nana to Jessica, Jac, Cai, Rhys and Euan.

Margaret was a hugely talented potter, with a tremendous personality and love for life, her work, her home and above all her family. She brought warmth, colour and joy wherever she went. She will always be in our hearts and remembered for her laughter, love, patent red boots and a dog in her arms.

A service to commemorate Margaret's life will be held at St Asaph Crematorium on Wednesday 18th February at 12.30pm, followed by a celebration of Margaret's life at Wigfair Hall, St Asaph.

Wearing bright colours is warmly encouraged in keeping with Margaret's love of colour and joy for life. Margaret was very well known by friends and family near and far, all are welcome to join the celebration, to help us accommodate everyone comfortably we kindly ask if you could let us know if you plan to attend ([email protected] or 07970 925257).

Our sincere condolences to David and Family.

I have known Margaret since I was a student at Chester College, so I can look back over half a century from the early days of Brookhouse up to when I last saw Margaret around five years ago. The Friths were simply a dynamic duo at every level, but I was always in awe of Margaret’s tremendous stamina and unwavering ability to combine being a maker, whilst running a successful business and creating a loving family and home, each of which was a fulltime job in itself. I was sadly unable to experience Margaret as a mentor, but imagine she would have been an awesome teacher. A northern lass who would not suffer fools gladly, we also shared political and aesthetic values and views. From the public Margaret -- an internationally recognised Master Potter and Fellow of the Craft Potters Association of Great Britain, to the private wife, mother, grandmother and friend, everyone who met or knew her will hold their own image of the strong, slight, energetic, fun, creative woman she was. They say great treasures come in small packages, and how true that is. We will miss you and your generosity of spirit, Margaret dear, as well as your fizz and pop!

Ceri and myself appreciate how much the passing of Margaret will mean not only to David, Daniel and Greg and their families, but also to the many people in the ‘pottery and ceramics world’ who came into contact with Margaret, and benefited from her Knowledge and friendship.
Please accept our sincere condolences.
