A great colleague. He and his Townhill colleagues shaped my teaching career. The value of his work in Dilwyn Llewelyn was understated. All the social and emotional bits for pupils came as standard. There was lots of fun too.

Melvyn and I will miss Alan so much. He was a superb artist and mentor, graciously sharing his skills and knowledge. His gentle humour and great conversation made him a joy to be with. So, so sorry that he has left us. Rose and Melvyn xxx

So sorry to hear the sad news. Mr Figg (or Figgy) was a wonderful teacher in Townhill school and his Art and Field trips were fantastic, and gave me a lifelong love of nature. He was an inspiration and so enthusiastic, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace
