DorisFARRINGTONFARRINGTON - DORIS Gwendoline May (Mrs), of Llys Park Rhos on Sea. Died on 25th December aged 97 in Glan Clwyd Hospital, Bodelwyddan following a short illness. Born in Bolton of Welsh parents (Tom & Hannah Jones) from Hope near Wrexham, she lived in Rawtenstall from 1936 until she moved to Matlock, Derbyshire in 1992. Originally a cotton weaver, she worked at Brookes Slipper Works, Howard and Halsteads Bakery then Redmans Grocers. Wife of the late John Samuel (Jack), she leaves her two sisters, Annie and Olwen (96 and 90 respectively), Son Ian, his Wife Pam, four Grandchildren and three Great Grandchildren. Her youngest Son Roger tragically died in 2001. She attended Lord Street Jubilee Primitive Methodist Chapel then following its closure, Longholme Methodists where she had many friends. She lived through the privations of two World Wars, the 1926 General Strike and subsequent seven month lock out by the coal mine owners (her Father was a collier) and her politics were formed from these experiences. She remained a committed Socialist until her death. She enjoyed the company of her family and friends and was a keen fan of T.V Snooker. Her funeral is TODAY Tuesday 13th January at Colwyn Bay Crematorium at 1.00pm. Family flowers only donations to St David's Hospice, Llandudno.
