JeanneENTWISTLEof Accrington, passed away peacefully on May 3, aged 95 years.
The devoted wife of the late Jack, dear companion of the late Tom Beard, loved sister of Grahame and dear sister-in-law of the late Jean, adored auntie of Duncan and Melanie and an adored great-auntie and great-great auntie and respected friend to many.
Jeanne spent her childhood on Atlas Street in Clayton-le-Moors. She began her working life at Bailey’s Outfitters as a trainee tailoress, and it wasn’t long before her natural talent and dedication saw her crafting stunning, bespoke outfits for her customers. Later, she worked at Mullard’s before making a significant career change, becoming an auxiliary nurse at Blackburn Royal Infirmary. With her warm, compassionate nature, she quickly became a firm favourite among patients and colleagues alike, remaining there for many years. Jeanne was a woman who lived life on her own terms. Fiercely independent and never afraid to speak her mind, she had a strong character and a clear sense of who she was. She enjoyed shopping trips to Manchester and loved evenings at the theatre, always looking forward to seeing one of her favourite shows. Travel was another passion—especially holidays in Italy, a country she returned to time and again for its beauty, culture, and the chance to relax and recharge.
Jeanne will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Jeanne’s funeral service will be held at Accrington Crematorium, Burnley Road, Accrington BB5 6HA on Friday, May 23 at 11am.
