Today, I pay tribute to Keith Dyson — a remarkable man, a dedicated mentor, and someone who changed the course of my life.
Keith saw something in me that I didn’t yet see in myself. He recruited me from the workshop and guided me into education, opening a door that would shape my future in ways I could never have imagined. He didn’t just offer me a job — he offered me belief, encouragement, and the steady wisdom that only a true mentor can give. Along the way, he taught me so much: about patience, about standards, about integrity, and about the responsibility that comes with shaping the next generation.
When Keith retired, I knew I had big shoes to fill. His legacy wasn’t measured in titles or accolades, but in people. Hundreds of apprentices across Lincolnshire gained their qualifications because of his dedication, his high expectations, and his unwavering commitment to giving others the best possible start in their careers. His impact lives on in workshops, classrooms, and workplaces across the county — in every apprentice who found confidence and direction under his guidance.
Keith led with quiet strength and genuine care. He understood that education is not just about passing on knowledge, but about building confidence and character. So many of us stand where we are today because he took the time to invest in us.
I will always be grateful for his mentorship, his trust, and the example he set. His influence continues in the work we do and in the standards we uphold — standards he instilled in us.
I send my sincere condolences to Jean and to all of Keith’s friends and family. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will endure in the countless lives he shaped and the futures he helped build.
