Dear Ken, if we’d had another chance, I would have said thank you. Thank you for the laughs, the support, the life changing opportunities. Thank you for the amazing memories from Southern Hemisphere summers, and mucking around with us kids in the Swedish snow in the middle of the night.
Thank you for being the rare kind of adult who made kids feel seen and heard, and all kinds of delight because you were so much fun.
Thank you for stepping in when we were heavy with grief. You lightened the load, you held space, you understood. And, so importantly, you made sure there was always ice cream.
Thank you for being patient when the last time we spoke on FaceTime, the kids turned on a filter that made us look like dragons and I didn’t know how to turn it off.
Thank you for sharing your story, which inspires us to be as strong as you. Your grit and resilience were matched by your kindness and signature sense of humour.
Thank you for loving and taking care of our beloved Lizzie (your lovie). It is hard to be so far away from her now, and I know you’ll be taking care of her still.
I have faith we will have another chance, but until then, go well, Ken. Rest In Peace and an abundance of love…and fish and chips and ice cream. There could never be another person quite like you, and you will be missed.
