I think of the time my husband and I met Joan and Alan in Ju-Juy, Bolivia, March of 1996 all the time. So if this reaches June I’m so sorry for your loss. I have memories of our meeting and so appreciative of your wise words on travel and saving. We enjoyed your stories especially traveling with kids. You told us how you went Egypt after the birth of your first son, literally driving with a new born to an exotic place like Egypt fresh from the hospital, it made us adventurous with our own 4 kids we were to have later after our stay in South America. And I loved your teachings to your sons on having a jar for each thing to save for and all your sons having houses by the age 15 to 18 (?) or younger , I was so impressed by that. I always wanted to visit because of our mutual collecting interests of antiquities, I’m still collecting. I just wanted to reach out and let you know how beautiful and lucky it was to have met you both! May Alan rest in peace, it sounds like the adventures continued and life was good! Best wishes, Tracy Thew and Chris Hand we were living in MN, USA during our South America travels and now live in NY, USA

I met Alan and Joan in Mendoza, Argentina. We shared lovely talks about adventure and travels. They gave me peace and warmth while going through a hard moment with my sick father. Although out very short meetings in the hotel, I will remember them with love and affection
