Terrence Anthony JosephDRING27th Dec 1947 - 8th Sept 2017 Sadly but peacefully on Friday 8th September at Marie Curie Holme Towers Penarth, Terry passed away with his brother Martin at his bedside. A loving and dear son of the late Leslie John Dring and the late Catherine Patricia (Tishy) Dring (nee Brice). Born in Grangetown Cardiff at the home of grandparents James Lawrence and Catherine Elizabeth Brice in December 1947. In 1949 Terry lived in Ramsgate (Kent) and in 1956 he moved back to Cardiff and attended St Patricks School, he was also an altar boy at St Patricks Church. Terry left school in 1964 and started a butchers trade at Cardiff Central Market. His great interest was music, he took up playing bass guitar, joined and formed bands playing in social clubs of the early 1960's. He became one of the original mods of that era, and the summer of love 1967. In his youth Terry travelled a lot throughout Europe. He maintained one of the best allotments in Pontcanna and his garden in Mortimer Road Canton. For 16 years he worked at the commercial dry dock 'Cardiff Docks' as a paintsprayer on ships 'One of the best jobs that I ever had' he would say. For 26 years he worked for Gwinnut Electrical Cardiff before retiring. Terry was admired by family, friends and neighbours and will be missed for his uniqueness, his varied interests and larger than life character. A one-off!
