The obituary notice of J. Peter DOOTSON

We had our differences but it would be unjust not to acknowledge that he was a skilled man who made an important contribution to musical activities in Southport over a few decades. I personally had few dealings with him in my adult life but he was a long standing family friend I met many times as a child. We lost contact a number of years ago and I was unaware of his death until now. Also Alma’s death. Condolences to their family, some of whom I have met in the distant past.

In fond memory of Peter Dootson. A genuinely nice man with whom I was first acquainted in 1981. He sold his double bass to me a few years ago when we met again at a concert in Formby. Peter and Alma entertained me at their house a number of times after that. Peter was an accomplished organist and no visit was complete without him playing a couple of pieces for me. He was not very well last time I saw him, but I did not know of his death - neither did I know that Alma had predeceased him. A man with a fascinating past and a wealth of interesting pastimes. He will be missed. Thank you for the music!
