My wife and I met Ray 10 yrs ago, whilst walking to the summit of Snowdon.Ray was coming down from the summit in rough weather and stopped to say hello,he advised us that it would be be a thankless exercise to summit in such weather as it was dangerous and you would not get any views of this beautiful place,,
We agreed and walked back to town with our new found friend.Ray was very interesting, funny, knowledgeable and the stories…(well they just kept coming❤️we ended up having tea and cake at his house as we thawed out from our retreated walk..
A Lovely soul that my wife and I never ever forget ❤️

Like anyone in the climbing community who met Ray—I feel he is unforgettable! Lively, funny, happy, charming. Too soon to leave but such great memories. May his spirit rest in peace and his family find solace as his spirit endures. With love, Jane

Ray was a good friend and collegue when we were in Bewdley Climbing Club. He will be sadly missed by many of the past members. A very sad day but many good memories of times spent on adventures in the hills. Rest In Peace.

A pleasure to have known you Ray. A real man of the mountains and a great friend. It will be so strange without you on the Rhyd Ddu Path. Rest in Peace.

Very sad news. We first met Ray thirty-five years ago in Nepal, Bob in Namche and me in Birethanti, and went on to work with him in mountains in many places ... in Nepal, the Alps – Chamonix, Zermatt, Bernese Oberland … He touched hearts around the world, and was a good friend, who will be sorely missed.
