Maurice JuliusDE SILVAIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maurice Julius De Silva, aged 84, on 29th September 2025. Maurice was born on 20th December 1940 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, to the late Marcus and Matilda De Silva. He was a beloved husband to the late Eroma De Silva; a much-loved father to Melanie Davenport and Mignonne De Silva and grandfather to Alessia De Silva, Thomas Davenport and Olivia Davenport; and cherished brother to Luke De Silva, Scholastica Madigasekera and the late Mervyn, Frank, Christie, Gerrard De Silva and Glency Wijesekera. Maurice moved to England in 1968, where he worked as an accountant. He was a keen sportsman who captained the local cricket team and played squash and tennis regularly. He also enjoyed many card games, and was a master of bridge. His trademark giggle and competitive nature during these games will be dearly missed. A funeral to commemorate Maurice will be held in the UK in Chelmsford, Essex, on Saturday 11th October 2025.
