Passed away peacefully at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, aged 77 years. Devoted husband of Susan; beloved father of Jonathan, Robin and Stephen and father-in-law to Caitlin. Dearly loved brother of Miriam and Godfrey. Cherished cousin of Joy, Elisabeth, and many more. Dear brother-in-law, uncle and great-uncle. An inspirational colleague and mentor to many in the academic world across an international network, especially in Europe and Russia. At Bangor University, Professor of Social Theory and Institutions and later Head of the School of Social Sciences. Co-Director of WISERD (Wales Institute for Social & Economic Research, Data & Methods). His loss is deeply felt by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Public Funeral Service at St. Andrew's Church, Benllech, Thursday, 12th of February, 2026 at 12:30pm, followed by service of Committal at Bangor Crematorium at 2:30pm.
