Jeff DAVISJeff Davis, 56, was killed after a crash in west Hull on Wednesday, January 29 2020 as reported on the Hull Daily Mail website Hull Live. Tributes have been paid to a "nice, happy and cheerful" man who tragically died after a fatal hit-and-run.
Jeff Davis, 56, was knocked off his bike in the accident, which happened at the junction of National Avenue and County Road North on Wednesday evening, and later passed away in hospital.
Daryl Scott, organiser of the Hull Soul Club and friend of 18 years, paid tribute to Mr Davis, who was a lover of soul music and visited the club nights that ran every month at the New Walton Club in Walton Street, west Hull.
Mr Scott said that he only saw Mr Davis last Friday at the club night and was deeply shocked to learn that he had died, describing him as a man that was "full of energy" and "loved to dance".
He said: "Jeff was such a nice man. He was so happy and cheerful. He really enjoyed soul music and had been coming to our club nights for the last 15 years.
"He was full of energy, liked a dance and a drink like everyone else. He was a good dancer and he always dressed well and had the nickname dapper. He was a big fan of Northern Soul and went all over to listen to the music.
"It was shocking when I learnt that he had died.”
"I was only just talking to him on Friday. He asked me to play one of his favourite records, Ruben Herald 'Can't Stop a Man in Love', which was one he always asked for.
"I can't believe he's gone and he will be greatly missed by myself, Kathryn, Steve and Annette who run
Hull Soul Club as will everybody who knew him there." Family and friends have since visited the scene of the crash to leave flowers in tribute to Mr Davis. Other people have left their own tributes on the Hull Live Facebook page.
One said: "So sad, love to all the family."
Another commented: "Incredibly sad. I
hope the full force of the law deals adequately with the people who fled this
scene.”
We hope to bring you funeral details later
as they are released.
