I did not have the pleasure of spending a great deal of time with Eric, but my memories of him are all happy ones. He loved his family, he loved people, he loved life and was happy to share that joy with everyone he met. A true, true gentleman. I know he will be missed, but I also know his family have a wealth of memories to treasure.

Re:- My Wonderful Memories of Eric Thomas Daniel’s

Firstly Eric and myself ( David Jones) had a love of football. Eric when he was young he played football for Cwm Albions and scored many goals. I played for Velindre Works team and I did not score many goals !!!! Our football hero was Ivor Allchurch “The Golden Boy of Welsh Football “

I first met Eric when Swansea played Leeds United at the Vetch Field on the 29th of August 1981. Eric came to sit with me in the New Stand built specially for this historic game. Swansea had made it from Division 4 to Division 1 mainly thanks to management of John Toshack. Eric had managed to get a ticket from is brother Gordon Daniel’s who was the secretary of the club. Swansea went on to win the game 4-1 What a great day to remember,

The next time I met Eric who was already a senior manager in the Steel Industry was in the middle 1980s. There were radical changes made to slim down the Industry which resulted in most of the staff looking for job security. Eric at that time took the post of Pricing Manager in the Commercial Department ( Tinplate) I became is assistant, Eric was my New Boss. “ And what a boss he was “
He was always immaculately dressed, Excellent Communicator he had experience of lecturing and O&M skills. But most importantly he was a “ Real Gentleman “ He allowed me a free hand to use my spreadsheet skills to good use. I will always be grateful for that.

Eric in his leisure time liked buying new cars he give me many tips on how to get a good deal from car traders. He loved singing was a member of the Morriston Orpheus choir. Eric and Gaynor also loved going on holidays together. Eric and Gaynor had a lovely house in the Mumbles with immaculate gardens. I used to go down there twice a year to sample Gaynor’s lovely cooking.

I can’t mention Eric without Gaynor she was his rock. Theirs was a marriage made in heaven. They both had a great Christian Faith which remained with them to the end. RIP Eric
