John Courtney a popular character with a cheerful outlook who ran through South Liverpool with foster son James passed away on Monday 22nd December 2025.
He was active in his community for many years raising money for the blind. Last year he celebrated 65 years of marriage with Sylvia, they have 5 children, Carolyn, Clive, Michelle, Kevin and Mark, 4 grandchildren, Donna, David, Hanna and Elijah, 4 great-grandchildren, Bobby, Zack, Josh and Rosie-Mae. John was a much devoted husband and family man.
No flowers please, but donations may be made to the Halewood Royal British Legion.
The funeral will be held at 12noon on Friday 16th January at Our Lady of the Assumption, Hedgefield Road, Gateacre, L25 2RW then a commemoration at 1.30pm at Garden View Chapel, Beech Street, L7 0EU.
John, my dearest husband, thank you for the wonderful 65 years we shared together. We had lots of happy times and made good memories over those years that I will treasure forever. Your loving Wife Sylvia
