I first met Geoff over 40 years ago, but will never forget the extremely open-minded, welcoming atmosphere in his home, where there was always food on the kitchen table and guests, expected or unexpected, were free to helps themselves at any time. Such a pleasant gentleman to talk to who made you feel welcome from the first minute.

I was very sad to learn only today of Geoff's passing. Geoff helped me considerably in my research on Chelsfield Grange and Pratts Bottom. Geoff and I corresponded on local history matters over 15 years and he never failed to furnish interesting titbits. His favourite character was the nefarious and highly embarrassing “Archbishop” Mathewe, who lived in PB, because he ticked all of Geoff’s boxes as an unconventional churchman. Geoff and Brenda have been our friends for a long time and our thoughts are now with her and family.
