The obituary notice of Robert Alan (Alan) COLLINGE

His name may be listed as Robert Alan, but he was always Alan to us. He was a wonderful friend and we enjoyed countless experiences together. His sense of humour, was based on a sense of the ridiculous, he would tell jokes against himself. He had an ear operation and the specialist told him "You'll be able to swim after this."
"That's good" Alan responded "I couldn't before." When he told this story he always laughed at the punch line.
We send our condolences to all who loved him and will miss him as we will.

Dear Lynne & David

It was with great sadness that I heard of your father`s passing. Alan was one of those men you could call a gentleman, who you could trust and rely upon when you needed it most. He battled on bravely when Doreen died, with great dignity, but he missed her dearly. Unfortunately I will be away on holiday on the day of Alan`s funeral, but i will be there in spirit.
I will raise my glass and toast a wonderful man who will be sadly missed, not only by his family but also his many friends.
