The obituary notice of Raymond Joseph CARTER

Ray was a hard working man who loved his garden. He used to enjoy betting on the horses and when he was able to drive, going to the bookies was part of his daily routine. He also loved collecting things and had a whole room dedicated to Toby jugs and animal ornaments. He spent his working life as a bricklayer and had a tool for every job. His main love though was of animals. He had 3 dogs of his own over the years. They were German Shepherds and Old English Sheepdogs called Wellington, Brunel and Nelson. He also loved cats and left behind Smokey, Shady and Princess. He took them in as kittens after a family member found them alone in a field. He fed every cat in the neighbourhood that visited and he also fed the foxes every night too. If the cats brought in any animal, Ray would rescue it and drive it to Robinswood Hill to release it back to the wild. Every year he would collect tadpoles that appeared in his tiny pond and take them to Sneedhams Green so they could have a better life. He also had chickens and ducks in his garden. He looked after my dog Pixie and Dean's dog Beau and he loved them very much. Having dogs in his life again, brought him joy. He always had a treat for Merv's dogs Oscar and Bailey that were regular visitors over the years.
Ray was a good friend to me and I'll miss him very much.
