Barbara EllenBURGESS(Monkseaton) It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Barbara, aged 81.
Dear wife of Roger, much loved mother of Andrew and Ben and much loved Granny to Thomas, Joe and Elliot.
From an early age, Barbara was involved in theatre and excelled at character parts - she appeared in Catherine Cookson films and in Byker Grove.
She met her husband, Roger through the Whitley Bay Theatre Club. She had an ear for voices and is perhaps most well known for "talking all humpy-backed" as the comic fictional character Bella Fudge - Mayoress of Tyne Dock in stage performances of Larn Yersel Geordie and Geordierama.
She excelled in making theatrical costumes, clothed Tynemouth Pageants and numerous historical television dramas.
She was highly sociable, a well loved elder and founded the craft club 13 years ago at St Andrews Church, Monkseaton where she had numerous friends and performed in many monologues.
Although housebound for some time, she maintained her circle of friends and neighbours, who were a great strength and support to her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
