Katerina MariaBUCKEL (NEE DEJNOWYCZ )of Whitewell Road, Accrington, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on February 15, aged 65 years. Katerina was the cherished and greatly loved wife of Gerard, devoted mother of Matthew, Claire, Thomas, and Kit, treasured grandma of Theo and Oscar and much loved sister of Anna. Born and raised in Accrington, she attended St Anne’s School and Paddock House before working as a radiographer at Blackburn Royal Infirmary, Queen’s Park Hospital and Accrington Victoria Hospital. Despite early retirement due to the onset of Multiple Sclerosis, she retained her smile and humour, remained a devoted mother and loving wife, and continued to avidly pursue her hobbies of reading, knitting and quizzing. The funeral will be held at St Joseph’s Church, Accrington at 11.30am followed by a service at Accrington Crematorium at 1pm on March 2. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome in memory of Katerina to aid the relief work in Ukraine, cheques payable to Funeral Service Charity Account c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington.
