My mum, Muriel Rose Braybrook, was the heart of our family — gentle, kind, and endlessly patient. She had a warmth that filled every room, a laugh that lifted every spirit, and a strength that quietly held us all together.
Born Muriel Owen in 1935, she grew up with simple values — love, honesty, and resilience — values that guided her every day of her life. She met my dad, James Gordon Braybrook on the buses, the love of her life, and together they built a home that was rich in love, laughter, and care. Married at St Martin’s Church in 1954, they shared more than 60 wonderful years together in Bilborough, Nottingham, before moving to Skegness later in life.
Mum was devoted to her family — she never asked for much, but she gave everything. She was a listener, a peacemaker, and a source of quiet wisdom. Her gentle ways taught us what it means to be kind, and her strength showed us how to endure life’s storms with grace.
Even in her later years, her eyes still carried the same light — one of kindness, love, and humour. She cared deeply for others, always thinking of family and friends before herself.
Now she rests peacefully, reunited with Dad, and the love they shared continues to guide us.
Though she is gone, her spirit remains — in the laughter of family gatherings, in the warmth of home, and in every moment we remember her.
Forever loved,
Forever missed,
Forever Mum.
