DonaldBRAITHWAITEMr Donald Braithwaite passed away peacefully at Blackburn Hospital on Saturday, October 2, aged 88. Loving husband to the late Joyce and father to Andrew. Brother to John, Gerrard, the late David and also to Colleen. Donald was an active member of Haslingden Baptist Church and was a regular member of the New Era club in Accrington and Sunnybank in Helmshore where he played snooker with his friends. He was a Railway Enthusiast and spent decades with his friends at the Rossendale Model Train Club where he was a regular member. He was a popular figure around Helmshore and always had a smile for everyone he met, even strangers. He continued to be active and was always out and about at his various clubs or church coffee mornings etc. His final journey will take him across the level crossing at the East Lancashire Railway in Rawtenstall prior to the funeral service. The service will be on Friday, October 15, at 10.30am at Haslingden Baptist Church, followed by committal at Accrington Crematorium at 11.40am. Then refreshments at Sunnybank Social Club. All of those who knew him are welcome to attend. Donations will be shared between Parkinson’s UK and his Model Train Club. All enquiries to Andrew Braithwaite at Fairer Funerals, Rossendale.
