GideonBOWENOn 18th March 2026, Cwm Gwendraeth lost a true legend. After a short battle with cancer, Gideon passed away at home, surrounded by his girls - Stacey, Abbi, and Evie. He was a warrior until the end. He took life by the horns, and his daughters laughed and cried with him, through to his final moments. He was truly one of a kind.

Gideon was a much-loved younger brother to Amanda and the late Olga, a dear brother-in-law to Gerald, beloved son to Rita and the late Olgan and a wonderful Dats to Arlo. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Gideon's funeral will be held on Friday, 24th April 2026 at St John's Church, Coalbrook Road, Pontyberem at 12pm, followed by a cremation at Llanelli Crematorium at 2pm.

Gideon will be travelling to the funeral from home (Heol Nazareth, Pontyates) in a sidecar and motorbike - he loved anything with an engine - and anyone who would like to join the ride is very welcome to assemble at his home address at 11.15am.

In true Gideon style, he didn't want suits. He asked that everyone come dressed in their "dillad racs", Crocs, and most importantly, a vest - which he wore all year round. It would truly bring a smile to his face and to his family's.

Family flowers only. However, if you wish to make a donation, the family kindly asks that you consider giving to Cat Rescue West Wales.

The family would like to thank everyone for their support during this difficult time. They would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Acute Response Team in particular, for the care and compassion shown to Gideon. He fondly referred to them as a "small army," who came to help at a time of great need, and for this, the family will be eternally grateful.
