JeanBIRTWISTLEJean, of Jubilee Road, Haslingden passed away peacefully at Highfield Hall Care Home on Friday, January 6, aged 88. Widow of Joe (they were married for over 62 years) Jean was a loving and devoted mother. She leaves behind sons Ian and John and their partners Anton and Beverley, grandson Lewis and partner Rachel, sisters Jaqueline, Shirley and Janet, brothers Tony and Allan and many nephews and nieces. After leaving school aged 14 Jean trained as a woollen felter at Joseph Porritt and Sons in Helmshore and would remain working in the textile industry until her retirement aged 60 in 1995. Her interests aside from spending special times with her family included dancing, travel, bowling and listening to the radio, but it was walking with her dogs especially to the top of Hutchbank Quarry, that was always her favourite pastime. Jean’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 8 at 11am at St James Church followed by interment at Haslingden Cemetery at 12pm. Floral tributes in memory of Jean are welcome c/o Paul Roberts, Johnson, Durning and Woods, Haslingden.
