The best grandad anyone could wish for. The memories of all our adventures will live with me forever. The most gentle, patient and funny man. He will be missed by so many. Love you Grandad xxx

I was always proud to call him my Grandad. He was the Grandad everybody dreams of. He had wonderful stories and made everything we did an adventure. Love you Grandad

Saying goodbye to John — and to the children’s Grandad
He was a patient man, especially with my mum, and he carried that same steady patience into being a grandad. He loved a joke and never missed the chance to retell the New Year’s Eve firework story — it somehow got funnier each time he told it.
He came to visit us in Africa once, a trip that meant a lot and gave him time to reflect on his National Service during the Mau Mau Uprising. He visited Romania a few more times, and those trips were full of stories, laughter, and simply, good moments together.
He wasn’t one for fuss, but he was steady, present, and proud of his grandchildren.
We’ll miss him — his stories, his humour, and the calm way he was always there.
Rest peacefully.

John was my Step Father and we had many a lovely dog walk together over the years. He loved his trip up to the Shetland’s when I was stationed there in the 90’s. He loved being with nature. He will now be at peace along with my mum Jean. Xx
