DorothyBAXENDALEof Springhill Care Home, Accrington passed away on October 27, aged 90 years. Formerly of Church and Oswaldtwistle, Dorothy began her working life at Escort Pickle Factory in Oswaldtwistle and later at a newsagents in Rishton before taking time out to raise her family. Dorothy’s favourite hobby was knitting for all her family. She also had a caravan at Lakeland Park, Flookburgh where she enjoyed many family holidays. She also enjoyed the music of Matt Monroe and Nat King Cole. She loved to watch tennis on TV and was also an avid watcher of ITV3 - enjoying such programmes as Heartbeat, Emmerdale and Midsummer Murders. Dorothy passed peacefully. She was the darling wife of the late John Roberts Baxendale (known as Roy) and the devoted mum of Linda, Susan, Judith, Debra and the late Simon. Dorothy was also the much loved nan to nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was also a dear mother-in-law and auntie. A service will be held on Friday, November 11 at 10.20am at Accrington Crematorium Chapel, conducted by Neil Overton.
