David ArthurBARNETTDavid Arthur Barnett, of Accrington, sadly passed away at Royal Blackburn Hospital on Tuesday, August 12, aged 79.

Devoted husband to the late Brenda, partner to Jean and dad to Gillian, Christopher and Claire, grandad to Rebecca, Daniel, Ellie, Georgia, Zachery and Bailey, great grandad to Ronnie, Isabelle, Lailah and father-in-law to Dave, Paul and Lisa. David was a much loved family man, who will be sadly missed.

A proud Accrington man, known by many, he started his working life as an apprentice compositor at The Accrington Observer through to his retirement from the Lancashire Evening Telegraph. He loved to go deep sea fishing in his younger years and still loved to travel, dance, watch cricket and of course watch his beloved Accrington Stanley. He had a smile for all and will be remembered by many.

A service will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Tuesday, August 26, at 1pm. As David was a ‘Top Red’ through and through, you are invited to wear Accrington Stanley colours.

Family flowers only, but donations in memory of David will be gratefully received to RNLI or Derian House.

Wonderful kind man, David and I grow up as boys on Plantation St square, always a gentleman, so sorry to have missed his funeral, as only just read of his passing. Sincere sympathy to the family . From David & Marilyn Sherburne

Sending heartfelt sympathy and thoughts to all the family. All who came into contact with David, would have had a small piece of him tucked into their hearts. He was a kind, generous thoughtful man, whose light shone bright and so far. A true gentleman in every way. I for one will be forever blessed to have had him in my life, and eternally grateful for his friendship and the laughter we shared over the years.

Memories of a really good man, l worked with David in my career as a printer and regularly saw him around Accrington. I will miss our chats and my thoughts are with his family, a man they will rightly be proud of. RIP Dave.
