I worked with Roger in Gladstone, Queensland from 1985 to the end of 1987. We traipsed around 7 schools teaching instrumental music. He was a musical force to be reckoned with and I learnt a great deal from him. He had amazing energy and would often cycle to work in temperatures of 20 degrees plus, stand in front of the office fan for a few minutes and then head off to teach his woodwind students. He had a terror of flying which made me wonder how he ever made it to Australia and how he managed to leave.
