Osmund JamesALLENOsmund passed away peacefully, in Burnley General Hospital, on June 17, aged 89 years.
Beloved husband of Margaret, devoted dad of Sandra and Christine, supportive father in law of Dave.
He was the cherished grandad of Matthew, Joel, Sophie and Lucy and an extra-special great grandad.
Osmund was also a much loved and loyal friend to many.
Born in Gt. Harwood, the 6th of 7 children, Osmund attended Our Lady and St Hubert’s School
and Church in the town.
On the same day as leaving school at the age of 15, he began work on a farm in Langho,
until he began his National Service with the Army Catering Corps.
Following this Osmund worked for a short time at English Electric in Clayton before moving to Allspeeds,
where he remained until his retirement.
During this time he and Margaret married and settled in Accrington where they brought up their family
and made many friends.
Osmund had a great love and understanding of the countryside and farming.
He enjoyed walking and days out at Agricultural shows or auctions.
He was also a skilled handy man and could repair almost anything.
His allotment brought him great pleasure and supplied the family with free range eggs for almost 50 years.
Together, Osmund and Margaret enjoyed many holidays both abroad and at home,
exploring new places, a trait which he has passed on to his family.
Osmund attended both St Anne’s and St.Joseph’s Churches in Accrington
until his recent ill health prevented him doing so.
The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 5 at 3pm, at
Accrington Crematorium.
Donations on behalf of the British Heart Foundation will be received in memory of Osmund.
