William RoyABRAHAMof Church, Accrington passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 15, aged 85 years.

A devoted husband to Teresa, beloved father of Richard, Patricia, and the late Margaret, cherished grandfather to Damien, Sam, and Charlotte, and a treasured great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Born in Salford and raised in Eccles, Bill was the eldest of three brothers— Nigel and the late Victor. At the age of 15, his family moved to Huncoat, where he would begin to shape a life full of dedication and hard work. After leaving school, Bill obtained several driving licences and found his calling working as a forklift truck operator, a role that took him across Accrington and Blackburn. Along the way, he built many lasting friendships.

Bill met the love of his life, Teresa, and was determined to win her heart. His persistence paid off, and they fell in love at The Vic dance club. Despite his “two left feet,” Bill and Teresa shared a wonderful connection on and off the dance floor. They met in January and were married by November of the same year. Within a few years, they welcomed their children—Richard, Margaret, and Patricia— into a loving home. Family life was at the heart of everything Bill did. He worked tirelessly to provide and create a warm, happy home alongside Teresa. The couple later moved to Morecambe, enjoying life by the sea before eventually settling in Church for their retirement years.

Bill was an avid fisherman, he discovered his passion for fishing from a young age — whether casting for river salmon or heading off on sea-fishing trips that sometimes kept him away for days. Bill and Teresa shared many wonderful holidays across the UK and abroad. A highlight was their carefully chosen trip to Salou, Spain, where they enjoyed the sunshine and each other’s company.

Bill will be remembered for his dedication to family, his quiet strength, and the joy he brought to so many throughout his life.

Family flowers only please, donations are being gratefully received in Bill’s memory on behalf of North West Air Ambulance.

Bill’s funeral will be held at Accrington Crematorium, Burnley Road, Accrington BB5 6HA - Thursday, May 29 at 3pm.
