Today my heart is deeply broken as I say goodbye to someone who was far more than a manager to me.

Ted Stewart was my mentor, my guide, and a true friend. He led with kindness, generosity, and a heart so big that everyone around him felt safe, valued, and supported. During our beautiful time working together in Sudan, he created not just a professional environment, but a family.

I will never forget the warmth he and dear Eileen showed me when they opened their home to me in Johannesburg. They didn’t just host me — they surrounded me with love. They took me around the city and its suburbs, cared for me as one of their own, and gave me memories I will always treasure.

Ted believed in people. He uplifted, encouraged, and empowered quietly but powerfully. His legacy lives in the many lives he touched — including mine.

My deepest love and heartfelt prayers go to Eileen. May she feel the immense gratitude and love we all carry for Ted.

Rest peacefully, dear Ted. You will forever remain in my heart🤍

Ted was my brother-in-law.
I don't know what to say about Ted not because there is nothing to say, but because there is so much to say.
When I worked in the UK, I would stay with Eileen and Ted between jobs.
No matter the challenges, Ted was always cheerful, kind, helpful and inspirational.
I am just going to relate a few stories that stand out for me.
I was staying with Ted and Eileen and was moving off to start a job near London. There was this TV series called "Killing Eve" which we decided to sit and watched all the series and episodes in 2 days, this going way past Ted's bedtime.
Another time a hedgehog appeared. Ted decided it needed shelter for the winter so an online order was placed for parts and Ted spent a day or two building a home for the hedgehog who needless to say survived winter, thrived and returned at a later date with a friend.
Ted helped me get my UK taxes sorted. He helped me with a car doing all the paperwork for me.
Anything I didn't know what to do, Ted very calmly would explain.
Ted, you'll be missed on my next birthday. I really enjoyed the singing from you and Eileen.
