David was so much more than a friendly face to chat to over the fence, becoming a good friend in the time we lived next door, always happy to chat and with an interesting story to tell. Always smiling, it was always a pleasure to see him, we’ll miss you David, Rest In Peace, Ellie and Steve x

I moved to Chelmsford in 1987 and met Dave a few years later. We met in the Two Saxons ( what a surprise, a pub). I was on my own and don’t recall exactly how I got talking to him but having done so he quickly became my best friend. Over the years we met virtually every day for a few drinks and much conversation. He was my rock at the height of my stress with my eldest Son being a compulsive gambler. He was my wise old sage whenever I needed advice. He was my mate. He was a lovely bloke. We put the world to rights. We laughed and joked.
But 5 years ago I moved to Colchester and whilst we spoke on the phone, messaged each other and (very) occasionally saw each other I wish our contact had been more frequent.
I hope so much there is an afterlife so I can see him again. I missed him when I moved and now I’ll miss him even more.
There’s so much I could say but I’m still struggling to believe he has gone.
Rest in peace Dave. Is it your round or mine when we meet again? Who cares? We never did. We had that friendship where we didn’t need to. Cheers my old mate.

I first met Dave in 1976 at Dagenham KD. He has always been of gentle nature, kind and caring. A lovely work colleague to know. He moved around at similar times to me, and we have worked in the same areas all our Ford Life. He will be greatly missed by many, one of life’s nice people. RIP Dave. Love Lesley

Dave was a kind, compassionate and intelligent friend. He brought professionalism to the workplace, and outside of work, he was fun-loving and caring, and spot-on at putting the world to rights!
A truly lovely person who will be greatly missed. Xx
