Edna, we met when we had to do some training to become volunteers for the new bridge being built, we were clever enough to pass the test to do the job and worked at the Catalyst Museum, we had so many laughs, we used to meet for coffee or lunch and have a long natter putting the world to rights, I miss you so much my dear friend, I count myself very lucky to have known you, rest in peace dear friend xxx

Edna, I knew you when I first qualified as an English Teacher and you and Rachel joined my evening GCSE class at Halton college, as it was called back then. You were dedicated but under confident and terrified of doing badly. Still you pushed through to the end. So nervous we’re you of not getting that C you desired so much, you wouldn’t open your results envelope. Years later, I’d ask Rachel if you’d opened it yet and the answer was always the same: “No”. Edna, you achieved that C. Well done. C for clever. C for caring and C for carving an Edna-shaped space in my affections. I’ve retired from teaching now, but thank you for being one of my first successes when I still had L plates on. You have been a great Edna Palmer. Good thoughts, always. Xx❤️
