There are some people who come into your life quietly, never asking for recognition, but who leave an impression that you never forget.

You were one of those people.

You were the man who loved and put up with my best mate Sue — which, quite frankly, deserves recognition in itself! You were her husband, her person and such an important part of her life. ❤️

But I will always remember you for the kindness you showed me too.

At a time in my own life when I needed people around me, you were there. You helped me when I needed help, without fuss or expectation, simply because that was the kind of man you were. I will never forget that.

A true gentleman is perhaps an expression we use too easily, but with you it genuinely fitted. You were kind, decent, dependable and caring. You had that quiet goodness about you that showed itself not through grand gestures, but through the way you treated the people around you.

And perhaps that is one of the greatest things we can say about someone when they leave us: you made life a little better for the people who were lucky enough to know you.

I will always be grateful for the kindness you showed me, but even more grateful that Sue had someone like you by her side.

You were loved, you mattered, and you will be missed enormously by all of your family and friends.

Rest peacefully.

And thank you — for looking after my best mate, for being there for me when I needed you, and simply for being the genuinely lovely man that you were.

A true gent, in every sense of the word. ❤️
